CHC's STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT TO CHILD SAFETY
In September
2024, the Queensland Parliament passed the new Child
Safe Organisations Act 2024 (the
Act), which commenced on 1 April 2026.
The
Commercial Hockey Club (CHC) recognises its status as a child safe entity under
the Act because children are playing members of the club.
CHC has
addressed its obligations as a Child Safe Organisation (CSO) through
appropriate governance and operational documentation and allocation of
responsibilities and staged implementation in the following key areas:
The CHC has
adopted a Child Safety Policy Statement of Commitment, which is overseen
by the CHC's Management Committee.
·
The
CHC’s 2022 Child & Youth Risk Management Strategy (RMS) is being updated to include the requirements of the CSO.
·
The
CHC has adopted Hockey Australia’s National Integrity Framework’s Safeguarding
Children and Young People Policy.
·
The
CHC works with CSO partners, including Brisbane Hockey Association and
Brisbane Women's Hockey Association to ensure appropriate integration and
oversight of our shared obligations under the Act.
·
Ensuring
oversight and integration of the key accountabilities of CHC under the CSO
in appropriate policy, procedure and process documents.
·
Delivering
operational oversight of key areas pertaining to the CSO, through compliance,
training, case management and other operational process reviews.
·
Ongoing
review and evolution of key operational and governance decisions to ensure
ongoing alignment of the CHC activities with the CSO.
